Meet Local Leadership.
Raise your voice.
Create positive change in Stoney Creek, Fruitland & Winona!
The Stoney Creek Youth Council is seeking new members - and we’re calling all students aged 12-18 from Grimsby to the East Mountain!
We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month from September-December & January-May at 6:30pm. Register ahead of time, and meet us at 777 Highway 8, Stoney Creek (Old Stoney Creek City Hall)!
All High School students will be eligible to claim Community Service Hours towards their OSSD for every meeting attended!
What does the Youth Council do?
We create a warm environment where students can feel confident and empowered in sharing their ideas, concerns, questions and comments about topics that matter to them! We feature new Guest Speakers each and every month, and host in-depth discussions that result in real, positive change in our community.
Some of our topics, past and present:
Teen vaping - we’re influencing both Municipal and Provincial Changes!
Mental health - we’re raising awareness about resources in our City!
Youth recreation - we’re increasing access to recreation programs!
Community safety - we’re getting informed by talking to local leadership!
Careers as a Paramedic - we met with Chief Sanderson
Careers in Law Enforcement - we met with Chief Bergen
Local Job Opportunities - Summer and beyond!
Climate Change and our Local Environment - we’re meeting with Director Lynda Lukasic!
…and there’s much more to come! Register today and don’t miss our next meeting.
